As you can tell I have not written much lately but it will
change real soon. Not only will I be documenting what is working for me I will be sharing some of my own recipes for the FODMAP diet.
I can say if you have not asked your doctor about this FODMAP
diet you really should. If they have not heard of it I encourage you to tell
them to check it out! It is simple….just Google FODMAP and you will find info
out there. Now there can be a problem with that. The problem being everyone
that has a FODMAP blog seems to be an expert. That is not saying they are not but
some of them are NOT experts and I am sure they do not appreciate me saying that. You will
find some very contradicting information and some info will be very out of
date. If you want the correct answer seek out a true professional dietitian
that has expertise in this area. Getting information from a correct source will
eliminate any frustration or confusion with this diet.
Am I an expert? NO! Nor, do I claim to be. This blog is MY experience with the FODMAP diet and
the experience is different for everyone. This is more or less say a guideline.
This is the disclaimer I use most often:
Please note we are not medical experts. We are
only here to supply info that we find or that has been given us and it does not
necessarily represent our views. Please, consult your doctor and dietitian for
more information about your disease.
That being said check out a FaceBook page “IBD or known as InflammatoryBowel Disease” that I help admin and you can find a wealth of information
there. You can ask questions and get others opinion’s. Take information with a “grain
of salt” sort to speak because everyone’s body is different and reacts
differently to different treatments. Remember to always talk to your doctor
about your disease and if you feel things are not working for you and your
healthcare providers let him know and/or seek out other experts.
In the meantime, check back often because I have a lot more to
say about this diet. My next blog post will be some helpful hints on how to make
it through Thanksgiving then another one there after telling you how I made it
through Thanksgiving. (Hanukkah)
PS – I encourage questions. Just ask and if I cannot answer I
can help point you in the right direction.
